Overview
Luserna/Lusérn is a small mountain village at 1,333 m, located southeast of Trento. It now represents the last island where the Cimbrian language, an ancient Bavarian, is still spoken fluently by 90% of the population. Secluded and immersed in a natural setting of great beauty, it is located on the central-southern border of a large alpine pastureland area between Folgaria, Lavarone and Passo Vezzena.
The Lusérn Documentation Centre/ Dokumentationszentrum Lusérn is responsible for the preservation, promotion and enhancement of the Cimbrian culture. It is a museum with sections dedicated to history and traditions, the Great War and the local fauna. Emblematic of the traditions of this minority is the House Museum Haus von Prükk", created from the conservative restoration of an old farmstead."
