The Cradle of Slow Food
Bra is famous for so many things. First of all is the city of Zizzola: the characteristic octagonal building stands on top of the Monte Guglielmo hill and you can easily see it from any angle of the city. How did the brave docs live? You can find out here, by visiting the scenic multimedia museum set-up of the Casa dei Braidesi.
Secondly, it is home to the Slow Food movement, promoter of a famous international cheese fair: it is called Cheese and is held every year in September. Get ready for a dip in quality Italian and international dairy products. A taste of Bra DOP is a must.
Another excellence of the territory to try if you are a lover of good food is the Bra sausage. Prepared today with lean veal and pork bacon, it was once 100% beef, since in the neighboring municipality of Cherasco there was an important Jewish community that supplied itself at the Braidese market.
If you love thrills and folklore, you can go hunting for masche, the Piedmontese witches, along a path that winds through the heart of Roero among the rocks and woods of nearby Pocapaglia.
