Overview
Tranquillity and peace reign in this village that was not overly subjected to the struggles between seignories and was able to enjoy, thanks to its position, a certain intimate serenity that led it to control the middle Conca valley. The identity and historical core of San Clemente is enclosed within the perimeter walls of the Malatesta Castle with its pentagonal towers. A few kilometres from the castle of San Clemente, the powerful Malatesta family left an impressive trace of its dominion over the territory: the farm and fortified villa of Castelleale, a characteristic example of mediaeval construction. The structure and its architecture bear witness to the village's past and the history that has intertwined it with its territory, between dominations, wars and liberations.
