Overview
Taking the metro in Naples means much more than moving from one point to another in the city. At least at Toledo Station, considered the most beautiful metro station in all of Europe.
More than just a station, Toledo is a true art gallery accessible to anyone, which will leave you spellbound. On the first level, the dark colour of the floor and ceiling contrast with William Kentridge's large mosaics. Descending to the second level on the escalators, lift your gaze to admire Crater de Luz, a crater that runs through every level and allows sunlight to penetrate from the outside, joining the colours of 144 LED lights and the shades of the Olas, the side waves. Experience the extraordinary illusion of standing in an underwater world, hence the name Galleria del Mare (Sea Gallery).
And that's not all. The Toledo Station hides many other less famous but equally interesting works of art, such as Men at work dedicated to the workers who built the metro, Razza umana, Rame fuso colato sulle rive del Golfo di Napoli, Il teatro è vita, la vita è teatro, Le tre finestre and Engiadina.
