Petit Monde

Overview

Journey through mountain traditions and culture

In the Torgnon area, there is a place where you can travel through time, discovering mountain traditions and culture. It is the Petit Monde, “the most complete museum ecosystem in the Aosta Valley” according to MIBAC.

The three structures making up the Petit Monde, raccard, grandze and grenier, preserve the secrets of the past, when this picturesque corner of the mountains – a real 'little world', fascinating and geographically isolated – was an important passage to Switzerland.

The visit begins on the ground floor of the raccard, where you can admire the permanent exhibition 'The labyrinth of memory'. The itinerary narrates the story of mankind, the origin and evolution of the village, the life and social organisation of the inhabitants of this magical place. The collections housed in the inner rooms tsé and tzambron reveal the hard work of the fields, marked by their very slow pace. The itinerary ends with a visit to the mill on the Petit Monde stream.
