Overview
The show begins before arriving at the village. The roads leading to Pomarance skirt mountains, rivers, woods, small medieval villages, castles and ancient remains of thermal and mining settlements, and the eyes are enchanted as they rest on every element of this beauty. Nature is the absolute protagonist, with its rare and delicate ecosystems protected and enhanced by the system of Nature Reserves, and a visit to the Masso delle Fanciulle (Boulder of the Maidens) is not to be missed, as is a swim in the bathing stretch of the Cecina river. And after having travelled these itineraries of rare beauty, you arrive in Pomarance and lose yourself admiring its 12th-century parish church, the Piazza della Pretura, and the elegant 19th-century buildings of Via Roncalli. But the symbol of the village is the theatre: the De Larderel and Dei Coraggiosi theatres are true jewels. The theatre is also the protagonist of the Palio delle Contrade, in which the districts challenge each other in a battle of... theatrical performances!
