Grosseto Metalliferous Hills National Park

Overview

Part of the worldwide network of UNESCO Geoparks, a site of interest created in 2003 to preserve the age-old history of metallurgy and mining activities in the Grosseto Metalliferous Hills. One thousand square kilometres, including 34 mining sites, 41 geosites, 19 thousand hectares of protected areas and 130 places of historical, archaeological and landscape interest. There are various visit routes that weave together industrial archaeology, geothermal energy, the environment, art and history.
