From its position, strategic and panoramic together, Casole d 'Elsa overlooks the Valdelsa, the Sienese Mountains and the Maremma. To see the walls that surround the centre, with two surviving doors, the fourteenth-century fortress, now the town hall, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, consecrated in 1161 and renovated over the centuries, with several works of art inside.
In the rectory, there is the Archaeological and Collegiate Civic Museum, which collects Etruscan finds, paintings, furnishings, and various works, including goldsmith art. A few km from the village, heading south, you will find Mensano, a medieval pearl, with the church of San Giovanni Battista Decollato and its 14 Romanesque capitals all different and fascinating. In the hamlet of Pievescola, on the other hand, the beautiful Romanesque parish church of San Giovanni Battista is worth a visit.
The countryside surrounding Casole, rich in vineyards and viewpoints, can be discovered pleasantly also thanks to the routes and services of Terre di Casole Bike Hub.
