Overview
It is one of the 'cities of oil', produces excellent honey, delicious cheeses and meats and has a great craft tradition. But Seneghe, a town surrounded by the Montiferru forests, is also known for its art and culture: during Holy Week, its streets are filled with the melodies sung by the cuntrattu choirs, a four-voice polyphonic chant that has one of its main centres in Seneghe. From singing to poetry and literature, every year the Cabudanne de sos Poetas festival is hosted here, an event that attracts internationally renowned writers and many enthusiasts. There is also a rich archaeological heritage, which includes a hundred or so Nuragic settlements, several Neolithic remains, Phoenician traces and Roman remains, such as the thermal spring of Funtana Fraigada.
