Bitetto

Overview

A village of culture, history and food and wine, Bitetto is known for its 'heart of white stone', as recounted in its shapes and colours by the beautiful Cathedral of San Michele Arcangelo, an elegant example of Apulian Romanesque architecture. But Bitetto is also a tale of traditional flavours: a land of vast expanses of olive groves, the termite olive, a product of great quality that never fails to appear on the table of its inhabitants, is cultivated in the territory of the town. A festival is even dedicated to the termite olive, held every year at the end of September, which celebrates, with events and tastings, the goodness of this product.
