Ariston

Overview

The House of Music

In the heart of Sanremo, the Teatro Ariston is a veritable institution that has welcomed, listened to and honoured some of the most famous people of all time.

Built in 1953, from the fortunes of Commendatore Aristide Vacchino, the theatre was consigned to true stardom 24 years later in 1977 when it became the stage for the Italian Song Festival, better known as the Sanremo Festival. Every year since then, its stage has been crossed by world-famous Italian and international singers.

In addition to the renowned singing competition, the Ariston Theatre has hosted numerous important programmes such as the Premio Regia Televisiva, known as Oscar TV, the TV show Ti Lascio Una Canzone and the talent show Sanremo Young. Every year, the Premio Tenco, the career award for artists who have made an important contribution to songwriting in Italy and abroad, is also presented here.

In 2017, the Vacchino family purchased a four-storey building adjacent to the theatre to use as a space for new dressing rooms, logistics areas and meeting rooms. Today, the Ariston Theatre is a point of interest and a much-visited tourist destination in the beautiful City of Flowers: an ancient building that preserves history, Italianism and entertainment inside.
