Overview
The "Giro of Lunigiana" is the race that uncovers international cycling talent: from Nibali to Pogačar to Evenepoel, many champions have left their mark on the winners' list of this prestigious event.
The 49th edition will take place from September 4 to 7, 2025, on a route that will highlight the city of Sarzana.
First held in 1975 as the Giro della Bassa Lunigiana, a modest regional race for amateur cyclists, it was dedicated to the Martyrs of November 29, 1944 — young heroes from Ortonovo who sacrificed their lives in combat. Over the years, however, the race gained a reputation as a talent-scouting event, becoming well-known and attracting young cyclists from all over the world.
Organized by race director Lucio Petacchi, the event is reserved for junior riders and will feature the best young talents from various countries.
For the past few years, the Giro of Lunigiana has also included a women’s race, held on September 2–3.
