Gaeta is a very evocative location: it lies at the end of the Ulysses Riviera, the stretch of coastline that runs from Circeo to the Gulf of Gaeta, and its clear waters and white sand attract tourists from all over Europe.
It is a town to discover and experience in all seasons, and during the Christmas period it becomes the focal point of the whole of central Italy, precisely because of the Christmas lights. The reason for this is the Fables of Light event that, since 2015, has illuminated the entire city from the end of October to the beginning of January with masterpieces of light that attract visitors and tourists from all over Italy.
Beautifulls installations colour the city, starting from the La Piaja district and arriving at Gaeta Medievale, passing through the historic centre and along the Lungomare Caboto. You can experience and admire them on foot starting from the beginning of the seafront.

How to reach Favole di Luce in Gaeta
Reaching the Gaeta illuminations by train is very convenient from all parts of Italy and Europe. Those travelling from the north can get to Rome, take the train to Formia and from there board the bus to Gaeta's Corso Italia. Those arriving from the south, on the other hand, can take the direct train from Naples to Formia and the bus to the centre of Gaeta.
If you prefer to drive, the best parking area for Gaeta's illuminations is in Piazzale AVIR, a stone's throw from Corso Italia, while those arriving by camper van can park in the 'Spaltoni' area in Via Munazio Planco, on the slopes of Monte Orlando.
What to see in Gaeta at Christmas
The Favole di Luce are just one of Gaeta's attractions during the Christmas period. There are many events scheduled, involving the entire town: the traditional Gaeta Christmas markets welcome and guide you to the visit of the city.
Among the most spectacular attractions worth mentioning is the return of Italy's largest Ice Nativity Scene: a masterpiece sculpted at -4°C, open to visitors until January 6th on Corso Cavour.
