"Enrico Giusti Mathematics Museum" in Priverno: mathematics to be touched
In the heart of Priverno's historic centre, the 13th-century Palazzo San Giorgio hosts a museum that has neither formulas nor blackboards. "Un Museo per la Matematica," which opened in 2023, is primarily an educational space. It was conceived by mathematician Enrico Giusti, a Priverno native, as part of initiatives undertaken by the "Il Giardino di Archimede" Foundation.
Hands-on, not hands-off
The exhibition is fully interactive: visitors can handle, disassemble and operate the objects on display. The museum reveals mathematics where it is least expected: in the geometry of curves, in the Pythagorean theorem presented as a puzzle, and in the mechanics of daily life. It is an approach designed for everyone, children and adults alike.
