Overview
What you see today dates back to King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, who colonised the island in 1734 by building the Bourbon Forum of which the port was a part. Today, it is the heart of the island and the Sant'Antonio promenade offers a beautiful walk close to the beach.
The harbour is connected to the rest of the island by a single road that allows you to visit this beautiful stretch of land nestled in the blue sea. You can arrive by ferry from Formia, Anzio, Terracina, Ischia, Naples and Ventotene or by boat, docking at one of the tourist piers.
Inhabited since prehistoric times, in Roman times it was popular with the imperial family as a holiday resort, with villas, necropolis and swimming pools still visible today. A small paradise to discover, between nature and history.
