Overview
In 1998, the municipality of Borgo Tossignano set up a centre whose purpose was to raise the population's awareness of the area's environmental emergencies, such as the Chalk Vein of Romagna and the Santerno river. The centre is located inside the 16th-century Palazzo Baronale and is divided into four exhibition halls, each of which houses reconstructions of environments that further enhance our knowledge and understanding of the main morphological, ecological, geological and botanical aspects of the Santerno Valley and the Chalk Vein. In addition, the centre has a well-equipped laboratory and a specific library, accessible to students and teachers for any research or teaching activities. The botanical garden contains plants that grow wild in the Santerno Valley and the Chalk Vein. From the terrace, high above, you can enjoy a magnificent view and access the footpath that leads to the hiking trail system through the Chalk Vein outcrops.
