Serrara Fontana

Overview

On the island of Ischia, between the deep blue sea and the enchanting green of the woods, there is the scattered municipality of Serrara Fontana, a peculiar village for several reasons: it is the least populated on the island but the highest, and the only one that directly joins the sea - with the village of Sant'Angelo - to the highest peak of the island, where there is a beautiful forest known as the 'falanga'. Here, the sea creeps in at every glimpse and the scent of salt intertwines with that of the woods. From the belvedere of the Piazzetta di Serrara, the eyes fill with the blue of the waves and the gaze reaches, when time and light permit, as far as the island of Ventotene, while from the Piazzetta Fontana the panorama embraces the Gulf of Naples and the islands of Vivara and Procida. Here, everything is silence and nature, the air has a clear, sparkling light and the sea is the heart of the village, a deep and mysterious heart.
