Capo di Sorrento

Overview

A regal atmosphere amid ancient Roman ruins and beautiful natural pools

Capo di Sorrento is one of the seaside towns that make up the Sorrento peninsula, west of Sorrento. This beautiful rocky promontory is also known as Punta del Capo and juts out from the Sorrento peninsula into the Gulf of Naples.

There is no shortage of valuable historical remains here, such as the ruins of a famous Roman villa, Villa Pollio Felice, dating back to the 1st century BC. A plunge into the beautiful natural pool in the immediate vicinity of the villa is a unique experience, to be tried at least once while on holiday in these parts. Separated from the sea by a striking natural rock arch, the pool is surrounded by steep cliffs: a perfect setting for your souvenir photos. The boat tours from Sorrento are a good way to quickly reach the remains of the Roman villas and the nearby Baths of Queen Joanna of Anjou.

At Punta del Capo, there is no shortage of stores for holiday shopping and restaurants where you can sample the local specialities: from fresh fish dishes to the world-famous gnocchi alla sorrentina.
