L’ex Ospedale San Rocco include anche la chiesetta del Cristo Flagellato, nota anche come "Chiesa degli artisti" e venuta a galla a seguito di alcuni restauri. Il soprannome pare abbia anticipato eventi successivi: era infatti di pertinenza della Congregazione di artisti di Matera che si è formata nella seconda metà del Seicento. La chiesa è composta da una sola navata, in passato interamente affrescata. Grazie agli interventi di restauro effettuati dalla Soprintendenza di Matera negli anni Novanta, però, non tutto è perduto: sono stati scoperti numerosi affreschi databili al Settecento. Attualmente, la chiesa viene utilizzata come sala conferenze del complesso dell’ex Ospedale.
