Overview
Arrone is a place rich in history where, however, the true essence leaves the confines of the inhabited area to embrace the surrounding landscape, becoming one with it and telling a story made of nature and matter. The town is divided into two nuclei: the higher part, known as 'La Terra', has maintained over time the urban structure of the ancient mediaeval village, while the outer part, known as 'Santa Maria', has developed outside the historic core. Places to visit include the remains of the castle, the church of San Giovanni Battista, the church of Santa Maria and, outside the town, the Sanctuary of the Madonna dello Scoglio, which stands on an imposing overhanging rock from which there is a spectacular view of the entire Nera Valley. And then it is back to nature as a journey towards the authenticity of an enchanted and lush land: the Nera River Park offers hiking itineraries, sports in the waters of the river, climbing and guided tours.
