Located in the Campidano plain, Sardara and its territory have very ancient origins. This is revealed by the well of Sant’Anastasia, a Nuragic temple dating back to the 9th-8th century BC, situated near one of the most important sources of the island for their healing properties. The Romans later established a thermal center (Aquae Neapolitanae) here, and Sardara’s thermal tradition continues today with modern establishments dedicated to wellness and personal care.
In the historic center, the Church of the Assumption and the former parish church of San Gregorio, one of the most important 14th-century churches in Sardinia, are worth a visit. Also to visit is the Villa Abbas Archaeological Museum, which houses numerous finds and votive materials discovered in the area. In the surroundings, the ruins of the Monreale castle are also worth mentioning.
