Sardara

Overview

In the centre of the fertile Campidano plain lies Sardara, a village that has maintained traces of the past in its architecture, such as the medieval walls that encircled the centre and whose remains can still be seen, and the well-shaped temple of S. Anastasìa, from the Nuragic period, which was one of the most important places of worship on the island between the Bronze and Iron Ages. It is from here that the materials preserved in the Villa Abbas Archaeological Museum originate, a centre that takes the visitor back in time and accompanies him on a journey through artefacts from various epochs, from the Middle Ages to the Roman Empire and then even earlier, to the mysterious Nuragic and pre-Nuragic eras. Finally, Sardara is a thermal water village: a few kilometres from the town are its thermal baths, two modern curative complexes where one can find wellness and relaxation.
