Santa Teresa Gallura

Overview

A borderland, Santa Teresa di Gallura is located in the far north of Sardinia. Among granite outcrops and jagged coastline, the village looks out to the sea and, throughout its history, has absorbed its essence.

A town to be protected from attacks from the sea, the Longonsardo tower recalls this function: from there, the gaze embraces and controls both the bay of Porto Longone and, in the background, the clear cliffs surrounding the Corsican town of Bonifacio.

A special place, however, is Capo Testa, a rock connected to the mainland only by a strip of sand: between the modern and ancient quarries, already used by the ancient Romans, and the scents of the Mediterranean maquis, one reaches the lighthouse, a symbol of the seafaring soul of the city, a reference point for sailors and guardian of the nights of those who have lived and live here, a breath away from the sea.
