Fondazione La Notte della Taranta

The Foundation "La Notte della Taranta" was born in 2008, in the month of august. The Foundation was born supported by the Region of Puglia with the Province of Lecce, in addition to the towns of Grecìa Salentina and Diego Carpitella's Institute. It become operational in Autumn 2010; the foundation intended to be a research and reflection lab connecting three different tendencies: science, show business and cultural policies.

The goal of the foundation is the definition of strategical and management decisions, promoting autonomous ventures and coordinating the associates actions giving support to the valorisation and the safeguard of Salento's territory. In particular, the foundation supports the study of the ethnographic heritage fostering, both cultural, musical, social and communication events and projects with regard to support and development of researches on “tarantismo” phenomenon, of Griko traditions and ones from Salento, with a specific reference to the popular music.

Nowadays the Foundation takes care of the organization and production of "La Notte della Taranta" festival and it is involved in different projects, conferences and publications together with the research centres spread on the territory of Salento and the main Italian and international Universities (Università del Salento, IULM di Milano, Università di Ginevra, Università di Perugia, Università di Tours).
