Overview
In Upper Molise there is a small village that is making the most of its environmental beauty. It is the village of Roccasicura, which, due to its unique landscape and the sustainable use of its resources, has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, as part of the international MAB (Man and Biosphere) programme. The ancient heart of the village is what remains of the old castle and here the fascinating medieval atmosphere is still alive, with the emblematic Arco di San Rocco and all the vestiges of the ancient fortifications. The visitor can enjoy a spectacular panorama, through the 'sentinel rounds' route that culminates on the belvedere overlooking the Mainarde-Meta Apennine complex and the peaks of the National Park of Lazio Abruzzo and Molise.
