Roccamandolfi

Overview

Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club

Roccamandolfi is a picturesque mountain town at the foot of the Matese massif, almost on the border between Molise and Campania. Around the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore you will find the picturesque historic town centre, with its perched houses and alleyways. The town’s primarily Renaissance history is linked to the phenomenon of brigandage, remembered with a Documentation Centre and with a multi-stage route through the village that takes in the Statue of the Brigand. The town is dominated by the remains of the Rocca, or castle, from which you can enjoy breathtaking views. For outdoor lovers, there are many trails, hikes, caves and waterfalls. And if you love a bit of excitement, do not miss out on the Tibetan bridge, allowing you to walk at high altitudes surrounded by rocky walls. Experts consider Roccamandolfi's traditional period dress one of the most beautiful in Italy, both for its aesthetics and for its anthropological and cultural value. It is also displayed in the streets of the town centre. At the table, you can enjoy cheeses, honey and sausages.
