Parco Sempione

Overview

A green oasis in the heart of Milan

Milan boasts big squares, old palaces, churches and skyscrapers. In the centre of this Lombard capital there is also a green lung that allows the city to breathe and gives locals and visitors a place to feel immersed in nature. Parco Sempione is among the most beautiful metropolitan oases in Italy.

You can enter the park through its most impressive gate, the majestic Arco della Pace, and head towards its main attraction and one of the undisputed symbols of Milan: the Castello Sforzesco, a 15th-century manor commissioned by Duke Francesco Sforza. For a special romantic moment, cross the Little Mermaid Bridge, named after the two pairs of statues guarding it.

Before you stretch out on the lawn and relax in the sun or hop on a bike to explore the park and its surroundings, make sure to stop for a visit to other landmarks in this part of Milan: the Acquario Civico, popular among children in particular, the Arena Civica, an important Milanese sports venue, the Triennale, for fans of contemporary art, and the Torre Branca, for panoramic views from its height of 108 metres.
