Art, history, lush nature and breathtaking landscapes: Varenna is one of the most evocative pearls of Lake Como, a true jewel. A stop in this delightful fishing village, a few minutes by car or boat from Lecco, is a must. A walk on the Lakefront, as soon as you arrive there, is ideal for stretching your legs. Then you'll be ready to enter the area of cafes, clubs and typical restaurants. In addition to trying the local cuisine, you can also admire beautiful Bellagio, located on the other side of the lake.
At the top of the list of attractions not to be missed in Varenna, there is of course Villa Monastero, a former convent converted into a patrician residence. Inside, the rich furnishings and remarkable works of art collected by the owners over the centuries are perfectly preserved. Its botanical garden, rich in exotic plants and rare flowers, is a triumph of scents and colours.
Returning to the centre, you can visit both the Church of San Giorgio, an example of Lombard medieval architecture, located in the square of the same name, and the even older church of San Giovanni Battista. Finally, Varenna is considered the ideal destination for a romantic weekend, also thanks to the Walk of Lovers, a scenic path where you can walk hand in hand with your better half and take some souvenir photos in heart-shaped installations and postcard landscapes.
