From 1 to 4 June, the Outdoor Region Final returns as the protagonist of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series.
The Finale Outdoor Region is an area that joins several municipalities in the province of Savona and that, thanks to its mild climate for a good part of the year, the presence of mountain bike and trekking trails and climbing walls, has become one of the most important destinations for a sports holiday.
There are, in fact, over 180 mountain bike trails on which to have fun and as many as 4,000 climbing routes in 200 different sectors with breathtaking views, in addition to the presence of shops, guides, and all the services that sports tourists may need.
Pietra Ligure and Finale Ligure are the venues of the two World Cup races, but many municipalities of the Outdoor Region Final are covered by the race routes.
From 1 to 4 June, there will be two races that will be held in Liguria: the UCI Enduro World Cup in Pietra Ligure and the UCI Marathon World Cup in Finale Ligure, events that will once again bring the best riders in the world to challenge these trails that combine mountain and sea, this time not only in the enduro field, but also in that of cross country.
The heart of the UCI Enduro World Cup from 1 to 3 June will be Pietra Ligure and its now extensive trail network that already in 2020 and 2021 was the star of a stage of EWS and two editions of the EWS-E. The event village, the athletes' paddock, the technical assistance, and the exhibition area will colour and enliven the streets and squares of Pietra Ligure.
The UCI Marathon World Cup, scheduled for 4 June, instead returns to a location, the magnificent Finalborgo, which was already the star in the distant '97 of the Valtellina Cup final with the participation of world-famous athletes, such as the Olympian Paola Pezzo. It was one of the first international sporting events that helped to showcase the potential of Finale Ligure as a destination for mountain biking far beyond the Italian borders.
The event village, the starting and finishing area, and the athletes' paddocks will be located in the Porta Testa area, with some race functions including the race office in the magnificent complex of the Cloisters of Santa Caterina.
The star of the Marathon World Cup will obviously not be only the Ligurian Final: the race route of 100 km and 3,000 metres of altitude gain will involve several municipalities of the Outdoor Region Final, from the sea to the hinterland, including the city of Vado Ligure.
Both races will be aimed at both professional and amateur athletes: for them the Enduro of Finale Outdoor Region, scheduled for Friday, 2 June, and the Marathon of Finale Outdoor Region on 4 June.
