Near Rome, in the Colli Albani area, Monte Tuscolo stands, surrounded by the most famous villages of the Castelli Romani: Monte Compatri, Monte Porzio Catone, Frascati and Grottaferrata. These destinations pamper the palate with succulent dishes and renowned wines, but also tell a fascinating story starting in the Bronze Age. 

Archaeological finds are accompanied by myths and legends testifying to the origin of the city of Tusculum, a holiday resort in the days of Imperial Rome, then the subject of alternating fortunes. A past to be rediscovered thanks to the specific trails. 

In particular, the historic Tuscolo Antica trail, rich in important historical and archaeological evidence: it connects Frascati to the ancient Roman city of Tuscolo through the architectural, artistic and scenic heritage of this breathtaking area. An easy hike that is an opportunity for relaxation and discovery. It starts in Frascati, in Piazza Marconi with Villa Aldobrandini, the symbol of the town. Follow Via Catone to the provincial road, continuing to Villa Falconieri with the Accademia Vivarium Novum, an institution for the promotion of ancient languages.

 Take the road to Tusculum to the Camaldoli monastery, through the chestnut forest, you will then reach the archaeological area of Tusculum to dive headlong into history.
