Everything is ready for the 27th edition of the ShorTS International Film Festival, the film event dedicated to short films, directed by Maurizio di Rienzo, scheduled in Trieste from 27 June to 4 July 2026. The Festival will feature 7 competitive sections: the Maremetraggio section, which will offer a broad overview of the vitality of this cinematic language with international works in competition for the Award for Best Short Film (€4,000.00) and the Audience Award for Best Short Film; the ShorTS Express section, which will present very short films from various countries in competition for the Audience Award for Best Short Film (€1,000.00); the Italia in ShorTS section with its Made in Italy shorts in competition for the Audience Award for Best Short Film (€2,000.00) and the AMC Award for Best Editing; the Eco-ShorTS section with international works on an environmental theme, which will compete for the Audience Award for Best Short Film on an Environmental Theme (€1,000.00); the Shorter Kids'n'Teens section, a kind of "festival within a festival" – with its short films, it aims to introduce the languages and techniques of short cinema to viewers aged between 6 and 15 – which will be judged by the Kids jury (Shorter Kids Award for Best Short Film) and the Teens jury (Shorter Teens Award for Best Short Film); the ShorTS Immersive section dedicated to VR short films in competition for the Audience Award for Best Short Film in Virtual Reality (€1,000.00) and the Award for Best 6DoF Experience (€1,000.00); and the new ShorTS Horror Picture Show section, which aims to be a tribute to horror genre cinema understood as a celebration of the imagination and the creative world of ideas, nightmares and obsessions, but always in opposition to and resistance to that world of the most sinister and disturbing everyday horrors, in competition for the Audience Award for Best Short Film.
