Piazza della Motta becomes the stage for Teatro Urbano 2027 (TU27), an open-air theatre with its own visual identity and a programme that encompasses theatre, cinema, dance and music, blending live artistic performances with multimedia. Each show will be accompanied by multimedia sets created especially for the occasion: the façades of the buildings overlooking the square become living surfaces, transformed by light and images into a unique and unrepeatable scenic backdrop, capable of amplifying the atmosphere of each event and giving the square a theatrical and extraordinary dimension.
Emotions, technology and creativity intertwine in a journey between innovation and humanity, where the boundary between the real and the digital becomes increasingly blurred.
Thursday 28 and Friday 29 May — JazzInsieme Two evenings in collaboration with JazzInsieme. On 28 May, La Band de Pigalle and My Charleston present a cross-section of the history of jazz and its influences – from Charleston to swing, from Criminal Song to the blues – in an invitation to sing, clap and dance. On 29 May, Funky Football feat. Steven Bernstein: Funky Football is the title of an unfinished album by Miles Davis. Enrico Merlin – also curator of the exhibition on Miles Davis in Villa Cattaneo, opening in May – has created a project that does not seek philological reconstruction, but works on what can still happen: germinal materials, tensions that start to move again. Special guest Steven Bernstein, one of the most authoritative and visionary voices in contemporary trumpet.
Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June — Portus Naonis International Clarinet Festival / SiNota The SiNota music school brings three evenings dedicated to the clarinet. On 3 June, an event opens that blends music, art, architecture and culinary culture: an all-female string quartet – made up of musicians who perform on the stages of the most prestigious Italian institutions – together with the solo clarinet. On 4 June, there are two events in succession: the youth ensemble of the School of Music with groups from middle schools with a musical focus, followed by a Gestural Choir of disabled young people from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, an innovative artistic group that combines original and contemporary repertoires. On 5 June, an international group of students and former students gathers around the solo bass clarinet, with a repertoire that spans styles and cultures from all over the world.
Friday 19 and Sunday 21 June — Piano City Pordenone On 19 June, Piazza della Motta is transformed for the festival's inaugural concert: a great virtuoso event for multiple pianos. On 21 June, the festival closes with two great international artists, who will intertwine European, Middle Eastern and African traditions in an open and engaging musical experience. More details will be revealed during the presentation of Piano City Pordenone. Monday 27 July – Francesco nostro contemporaneo. An original show designed for Piazza della Motta, a multimedia theatrical event – dance, live music, images and words – conceived by Giuseppe Emiliani, with the courage to go beyond traditional iconography to offer the audience a portrait that restores the real Francis: a lively and radical man, contradictory, tormented and passionate, who still challenges us today. Artistic direction by Federico Cautero, with Virgino Gazzolo, Luciano Roman and Marta Richeldi.
Saturday 22 August — Classicheggiando / PienneMusik With the APN association, as part of the PienneMusik format curated by Francesco Tizianel, the Gershwin Quartet brings Classicheggiando to the stage. Friday 28 August — A Window into the Magic / Silent Film Days Acrobats and dancers "step out" of the screen to interact with Federico Cautero's multimedia sets, breaking down the fourth wall and bringing the magic of early cinema directly into the audience. Artistic gymnastics, contemporary dance and parkour intertwine with film montage in a unique site-specific show. Curated by Jay Weissberg, Artistic Director of the Silent Film Festival. Tuesday 1 September — Mask Sabbath. Sogni Comici Selvaggi / Scuola Sperimentale dell'Attore — Arlecchino Errante With the most famous masks of Italian popular culture in an act of love for the Commedia dell'Arte and at the same time a powerful modernisation of it, with a few tributes to Pordenone and its unique features. Live music. Composition and direction by Ferruccio Merisi. The show inaugurates the 30th edition of the L'Arlecchino Errante Festival. In the event of bad weather, the events may be moved to an indoor venue on the same evening or rescheduled for a later date.
