Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia: Art, rituals, architecture and culture.

Overview

Discovering the wonders of history and ancient Greece

The city of Paestum, also called Poseidonia, combined with the excavations of Velia, is a huge architectural heritage that tells us about Magna Graecia. This magical place is steeped in history and losing yourself in its magnificent scenery is a journey back in time. Must-see stop-offs include the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Neptune and the Temple of Athena - all impressive masterpieces of ancient architecture. Don't miss the Comitium, the Forum and the Amphitheatre of Paestum revealing the life of the city with its customs and organization. Also look out for the Tomb of the Diver with its Greek paintings and the Archaeological Museum of the Park. The route on the way to discover the excavations of Velia is equally evocative.
