Moscufo

Overview

From the top of the hill on which it stands and from which it once controlled the territory in fear of enemy attacks, Moscufo, in the province of Pescara, dominates the entire valley, offering inhabitants and travellers a panorama of great beauty. The area has been inhabited since the earliest times and Moscufo: an ancient Roman 'pagus', originally built further south than the current settlement, as demonstrated by the many finds. The heart and symbol of the village, however, is olive oil. Together with Pianella and Loreto Aprutino, Moscufo is part of the 'golden triangle of oil': surrounded by olive groves and oil mills, a top-quality extra virgin olive oil with extraordinary chemical and organoleptic qualities is produced here, so much so that a festival is dedicated to it every year, to be enjoyed amidst tastings and entertainment.
