Carsoli

Overview

The territory of Carsoli, in the province of Aquila, is cut in two by the Turano river and surrounded by a beautiful, almost wild landscape.

The oldest part of the village is located in a strategic position, on the hill that dominates the entire area, where the Orsini Castle once stood, the traces of which are still visible. This fortress was built around the year 1000 by the Marsi Counts to protect the territory, and its remains can still tell those stories, including struggles, strategies and battles to defend the village and its people.

All around, there are woods and paths to rediscover contact with nature: in particular, the Pietrasecca Caves nature reserve is a must-see, where it is possible to take excursions, even guided ones, to discover caves, geosites and enchanting paths.
