Overview
The Teatro La Fenice is the most important theater in Venice and today, it is still one of the world’s top destinations for opera and classical music shows. The theater has hosted some of the greatest artists and musicians in history.
It is located in the Sestiere of San Marco, in campo San Fantin, near Piazza San Marco.
Built between 1790 and 1792, it was destroyed by a fire in 1836 and restored with an adaptation of the original design. In 1996, another fire destroyed it completely and it was reopened to the public on December 14, 2003.
Since January 1, 2004, to celebrate the rebuilding of the theater, La Fenice hosts the New Year's Concert.
