Bellini celebrations in Catania

Overview

In Catania, the month of September begins with one of the most heartfelt and prestigious events on the Sicilian cultural scene: the Bellini Celebrations, dedicated to the renowned Catanese composer Vincenzo Bellini, a key figure in the history of Italian opera.

From September 3 to 14, 2025, the city comes alive with the Bellini Festival, the main event of the celebrations, offering a rich calendar of artistic and cultural events inspired by the life and works of the Maestro.

The program includes symphonic concerts, recitals, opera performances, as well as theatrical shows, exhibitions, screenings, thematic conferences, and meetings with scholars. The celebrations also involve symbolic places connected to Bellini's life, such as his birthplace, the Teatro Massimo Bellini, the Cathedral, and other historic landmarks in the city center.

Guided tours and themed itineraries allow visitors to retrace the composer's footsteps in his hometown, weaving together art, history, and emotion to renew, year after year, the bond between Catania and one of its most illustrious sons.
