Riu Mulinu

Overview

The Nuraghe of Olbia

An extraordinary archaeological site within walking distance from the centre of Olbia and among the most significant remains of Nuragic culture in Sardinia: the nuraghe Riu Mulinu has dominated the surrounding area from the 250-metre peak of Capu Abbas since it was built in the 14th-13th century BC.

You can leave your car in the forecourt and walk along the paved road through lush Mediterranean scrubland. On the way, you can look up to admire the surrounding panorama, from Punta Zapparottu to Tavolara.

You will finally arrive at the monument, a circular tower surrounded by a mighty wall. Millennia after its construction, it still conveys all the charm of the Nuragic civilisation. Suspended in time, you can almost hear the echoes of a distant past that is still alive today in local traditions.
