Supramonte di Baunei

Overview

The archaic soul of Sardinia

Immersed in primeval-looking nature, Supramonte di Baunei is a destination that pleases everyone, from hiking enthusiasts to lovers of breathtaking views, which let your eyes roam from the Gennargentu to the Gulf of Orosei. The area stretches across the Ogliastra region with natural trails from the mountains to the sea and vertical walls that are a true paradise for rock-climbing enthusiasts. There are also launch ramps for paragliders.

From above, you can admire the abyss of the deep, funnel-shaped karstic well of su Sterru and the nuragic stones surrounding the Is Piscinas basins. You will glimpse the domus de Janas, amidst dense vegetation, and find yourself suspended in a timeless world

Then, entering the bed of the codula di Sisine underground river, you will emerge at the river mouth on a beach of soft, white sand and arrive at the beautiful sea with its iridescent shades, after passing through limestone cliffs, canyons, caves and pinnacles covered with junipers and Mediterranean scrub.
