Overview
This LIPU nature reserve covers 236 hectares, complete with visitor centre and hiking trails. From April to November, on the cliffs overlooking the sea, you can glimpse nesting species including the Corsican gull and the peregrine falcon. The main attraction here is the royal falcon: a bird of prey that nests on the cliffs of small Mediterranean islands, named in honour of the judge Eleonora d’Arborea, who in the Middle Ages declared all hawks protected. The best time to see the nesting birds is towards the end of summer, between September and October, when the young birds put on an acrobatic display as the hunt the migratory species heading towards Africa.
