Overview
The patron saint of the town is Our Lady of Liberation, whose sacred icon is a wooden image of Byzantine workmanship, kept in the sanctuary dedicated to her. Founded on an earlier Romanesque temple, the church of the Our Lady of Liberation as we see it today was rebuilt in the 18th century in Baroque style, giving a boost to the worship that is still very much felt today by the inhabitants and in particular the local fishermen.
