Overview
A pretty little town overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Diso tells of its beauty in its very name: it seems, in fact, that the place name derives from 'desìo', that is, the desire to live there. And visiting the village, one cannot help but think that this interpretation is correct. A place of wild and fascinating nature, Diso has a heart linked to the sea that is told especially in its hamlet Marina di Marittima, where the architecture and atmosphere are permeated by the influence of this element. An emblem of the power of the sea and how much its presence has influenced the life of the area is the Capo Lupo Tower, a lookout tower, one of the oldest in the Salento, built as a defence against sea raids by enemies.
