Bovino

Overview

The historic village of Bovino, located on a hill overlooking the entire Cervaro torrent valley, enchants those who pass through its alleys with the ancient echo of the Middle Ages. A tiny, perched village, it bewitches with its paved alleys, its small, white houses, but above all with its 800 imposing stone portals, which, more than anything else, tell of ancient atmospheres and hint at a distant, mysterious past. Also superb is the majestic Ducal Castle, an ancient noble residence where the son of Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, Manfred, is said to have stayed before the Battle of Benevento.
