Overview
Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club
In the heart of the Monferrato Casalese area, Rosignano Monferrato is immersed in hilly landscapes between art paths, excellent wines and high quality gastronomic and artisan products. Its territory is part of 'Il Monferrato degli Infernot', a component of the UNESCO site 'I Paesaggi Vitivinicoli del Piemonte: Langhe-Roero e Monferrato'. There are 7 Infernot in Rosignano, 3 of which are public and can be visited by appointment: these are fascinating man-made spaces consisting of small underground chambers carved by hand into the Pietra da Cantoni, a peculiar geological formation found only in the Basso Monferrato. Without light and ventilation, they are used to store bottled wine where the constant temperature and humidity characteristics allow for the optimal conservation of the most precious bottles.
