Peglio

Overview

A territory historically disputed between the Montefeltro, Della Faggiola and Brancaleoni di Casteldurante families, the village still retains the appearance of an ancient castle and offers, thanks to its hillside position, an enchanting view of the surrounding landscape. The village's medieval history is recounted in the Torre del Girone, dating back to the 13th century, but also worth a visit is the Baroque-style Church of San Fortunato, which houses a valuable terracotta Via Crucis and two crypts from the Longobard era, traces of a past that have only been brought to light in recent decades.
