In the historic centre of Mogliano, the MASM – Mogliano Museum of Sacred Art – houses one of the most significant artistic and devotional heritages in the area. The museum is housed in the Church of Santa Maria in Piazza, an ancient sacred building restored to cultural use as an exhibition space.
The MASM preserves works of great historical and artistic value, testimony to the community's deep religious tradition. One of the masterpieces on display is the altarpiece by Lorenzo Lotto, the Madonna in Gloria with Angels and Saints (1548), made for Mogliano thanks to a municipal commission and considered one of the most intense works of the artist's maturity. The painting is an essential reference point for understanding the Renaissance in the Marche region.
Alongside Lotto’s work, the museum houses paintings, sculptures, and sacred furnishings that recount centuries of devotion, patronage, and religious life, offering a comprehensive interpretation of the relationship between art and the local area.
A visit to the MASM allows you to delve into the cultural identity of Mogliano through sacred art, naturally integrating into an itinerary of historic churches, civil architecture, and inland Marche villages, following in the footsteps of one of the great masters of the Italian Renaissance.
Information on opening hours and tickets is available on the official MASM website.
