Overview
The main sports and events arena in Milan
The Mediolanum Forum, formerly called the Forum di Assago, was founded in 1990 and immediately became a landmark for sport in the Italian city of Milan. This particularly innovative project won the 1994 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, awarded by CONI and the Council of Europe.
In the first few years of its history, the facility was mainly dedicated to hockey and basketball. It later became a multi-sports centre, hosting the Milan Indoor international tennis tournament and competitions dedicated to other sports disciplines.
The Mediolanum Forum is also an arena of choice for the world tours of great international singers and musicians, from Frank Sinatra to U2, from Vasco Rossi to Madonna. The Forum has become an institution not only for music lovers, but also for families and children, having hosted shows by the likes of Cirque du Soleil, David Copperfield and Disney.
In anticipation of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Milan, the Forum will undergo extension work to host figure skating and short track competitions.
