Cassinetta di Lugagnano

Overview

Cassinetta di Lugagnano is an elegant and aristocratic village that stands on the Naviglio Grande: the waterway crosses the town and the two halves are joined by a historic bridge dating back to the 17th century. The oldest nucleus is located on the right bank of the Naviglio, whose first settlements date back to Roman times; in medieval times, however, the village developed around a castle surrounded by a moat, to be as protected as possible from enemy attacks. The most important attraction of Cassinetta di Lugagnano is its real estate: in fact, on the territory of the village, one can admire the beautiful noble villas linked to the names of the great Milanese families. These villas were built to allow the owners to control the management of the land and have remained as splendid as they were centuries ago.
