My name is Kamal Singh and I have been running Curcuma Indian Restaurant with my family for 12 years. I brought traditional Indian cuisine to Lecco, delighting my guests with typical dishes rich in taste and an authentic atmosphere that is breathed in every corner of his restaurant. My family and I are Sikh Indians and we come from Punjab, an area in the northwest of India where the culinary tradition brings to the table recipes of Indian cuisine that present clear references to Hindu, Muslim and, of course, Sikh culture. I wanted to call my restaurant Curcuma to emphasize the genuine and traditional character of its cuisine. Turmeric is a spice widely used in Indian cuisine, not only for its texture and its bitter and spicy flavor that give the dishes a beautiful golden color and a unique taste, but also for its beneficial virtues. Curcumin, the active ingredient of turmeric, is used in Ayurvedic medicine of Indian tradition for its detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is one of the beauty secrets of Indian women, who appreciate its antioxidant qualities and use it to keep their skin young and toned. Turmeric is therefore synonymous with taste, health and beauty. What better name could I choose for my Indian restaurant?
