Tellaro

Overview

Tellaro is a pearl reflected in the sea. Just a few kilometres from Lerici, it can be reached by following a spectacular road overlooking the sea, which anticipates the wonder that awaits us once we arrive in the village, but also on foot, following a number of paths that descend from the highest villages towards the sea, offering splendid views. A village of colourful houses built on rocks overlooking the coast, here the rhythm is the slow one of the past and everything is marked by the sea and its persuasive voice. A must-see is the scenic church of San Giorgio, with its antique pink façade and set on a rock surrounded by waves, with a story that smacks of legend: it is said that one night a giant octopus clung to the rope of its bells, ringing them and thus warning the population of the arrival of the Saracens. And not to be missed is the Underwater Christmas, when the statue of the Infant Jesus emerges from the waters carried by divers surrounded by more than 8,000 tiny lights: a spectacle that is chilling in its intensity and beauty.
