Campo Soriano: The Karst Natural Monument between Terracina and Sonnino
Located just a few kilometres from Terracina, the Campo Soriano Natural Monument is a karst field of rare scenic beauty and great scientific interest. This natural complex stretches for about 3 km between the territories of Terracina and Sonnino, amidst cultivated fields and orchards, and is protected as a Natural Monument by the Lazio Region.
The “Cathedral”
The most recognisable feature is the Rava di San Domenico, also known as "The Cathedral": a hum, being a geological term for an isolated limestone rock. Standing 18 metres tall, it is the outstanding formation in the entire area. The site offers a picnic area and free access to visitors.
